How payment collection works
Pro organizers can charge attendees directly. Money goes to your bank — not ours.

Connect Stripe
Link your Stripe account in Settings. Takes 2 minutes. Stripe handles identity verification and bank details.

Set a price per slot
When creating an event, check "Requires payment" and enter the amount. Attendees pay when they sign up.

Get paid directly
Payments land in your Stripe account minus Stripe's fee (2.9% + 30¢) and our 2% platform fee. Payouts in 2 days.
Example: You charge $25 per person for a cooking class with 20 spots. Total collected: $500. Stripe fee: ~$15. Mercurylist fee (2%): $10. You keep: $475.

Is the Free plan really unlimited?
Yes — unlimited events, unlimited slots, unlimited participants. We don't gate basic functionality behind a paywall. The only thing that requires Pro is payment collection from attendees.
Are there any hidden fees on the Free plan?
No monthly fees, no setup costs, no per-signup charges. Free means free.
What's included in the 2% platform fee?
The 2% is Mercurylist's fee on top of Stripe's standard processing fee (2.9% + 30¢ per transaction). You only pay it when you actually collect a payment — not a flat monthly surcharge.
Do participants need a Mercurylist account?
No. Participants sign up with just a name and email — no account required. Only organizers need to register.
What if I don't collect payments — do I ever need Pro?
No. The Free plan is fully functional for events without payment collection. You can run every type of event — volunteer shifts, sports signups, potlucks, class signups — completely free.
Can I get annual billing?
Yes — annual billing gives you 2 months free (effectively $10/mo for Pro). Contact us to set it up.
Can I send reminders by text?
Confirmation emails are sent automatically on every signup. SMS reminders are on our roadmap.
How is this different from SignUpGenius?
SignUpGenius shows ads on signup pages in the free tier and charges $12/mo just to remove them. Payment collection requires their $39/mo plan. Mercurylist's free tier has no ads ever, and payment collection is $12/mo — same price SignUpGenius charges just to remove ads.
